PURPOSE:To secure the balance between the outputs of both resistance films by adding a conductor film of a nonmagnetic material to a magneto-resistance film of a lower layer and increasing the thickness of the magneto-resistance film of an upper layer more than that of the lower layer. CONSTITUTION:An insulated layer 12, a Ti film 13 and the 1st MR film 14 are formed successively on a substrate 11. Furthermore an insulated layer 15 and the 2nd MR film 16 are formed on the layer 14. Then an insulated layer 17 and a shielding layer 18 are formed on the patterned films 14 and 16, and an insulated layer 19 is formed after the layer 18 is patterned. Finally the layer 19 is drilled to form a terminal to be connected to each MR film. Thus an MR head is obtained. The output balance is secured between both MR films by increasing the output of the MR film of a lower layer or reducing the output of the MR film of an upper layer. In this way, the peak shift of an output waveform is reduced and the up-down asymmetricalness of said waveform is improved. |
