The level to which free running bulk material or liquids fill a container is checked by a slowly revolving feeler head (28). When the latter is stopped or delayed by dipping into the contents, the driving synchronous motor is switched off. As soon as the head is free, signals are activated and the motor is switched on. The drive shaft (10) is joined to the head (28) through a bend (18) inside a silicone rubber hose (32). The hose has two beads (34) at each end to fit into grooves of the two parts.
