The heat pump can be used simultaneously for domestic water heating and for room heating by means of a combination accumulator. The primary energy can come e.g. from the air, the earth, from water or another heat source. In this connection, the energy types available can be used individually, in part or all together. By multi-step switching (2 different compressors), good adaptation to the respective heat requirement can be achieved. The conventional circulating pump between storage accumulator and heat pump is omitted. By connecting a small compressor (power consumption below the free limit of the energy supply companies), the storage accumulator can be significantly reduced or omitted entirely. With the abovementioned installation, a possibility is afforded of installing a heating installation in any one-family or two-family house, which works independently of fossil fuels and considerably more economically than a conventional heating installation operated with oil or other fuels.
