PURPOSE:To improve water resistance and transparency by incorporating a silicon element having a high effect of water repellency into metal-contg. transparent plastic and molding the same. CONSTITUTION:A compsn. is formed of a resin consisting essentially of a transparent polymer contg. a metallic element and silicon element. The ray transmittance of the transparent polymer is perferably >=80% and the content of the metallic element is preferably 5-50wt% of the total weight of the transparent polymer. The content of the silicon element is preferably 0.001-20wt% of the total weight of the transparent polymer. Various polymers such as a single polymer of the metallic salt of org. carboxylic acid, ionomer, etc. are usable for the resin contg. the metal. The metal is Pb, Ba, Sr, Sn, La, Tl, Cs, etc. The transparent polymer has consequently excellent transparency and water resistance and a plastic optical element such as a waveguide, optical fiber or the like is obtd. |
