In an appliance for pressing a crop into bales having a rectilinearly limited base surface and side surfaces perpendicular to this, a tubular first press channel of rectangular cross-section is provided. In its longitudinal direction, a compression piston acts in the direction of the crop introduced into the press channel. Shaping forces are introduced into the crop from the side walls of the press channel. The compression piston is mounted inside the press channel so as to be displaceable in the longitudinal direction of the press channel. The latter compresses the crop. Fastened to the press channel is a pushing-out device mounted so as to be displaceable transversely relative to the longitudinal direction of the press channel. This pushing-out device stresses the bale standing on its base surface and opens into the first press channel opposite a pushing-out gate, through which the bale is pushed out of the press channel. There is a second press channel, the design of which corresponds essentially to that of the first press channel and which is oriented in the same way as this and is arranged next to the first press channel. The pushing-out device of the second press channel is mounted displaceably in the same directions as the pushing-out device of the first press channel. |
