PURPOSE:To arrange so that ink discharge may be steadily carried out and waste ink be easily dumped by properly engaging an attachable waste ink storage means on a carriage with an ink discharge means of a suction mechanism. CONSTITUTION:A cartridge tank 30 attached to a carriage has an ink storage part 32 in which a needle 52 is inserted through a rubber member 34 and a waste ink storage part 36 filled with a porous material. During an ink charge at the time of an initial use or a discharge recovery from a clogging, if the carriage 2 is placed at a home position to drive a motor 100 for a suction mechanism, a cap member 130 is caused to contact a nozzle part by the rotating of a cam 110, and a discharge member 180 is caused to contact a waste ink storage part 36 by the rocking of a discharge lever 182. As a result, a pump 160 is actuated by the rotation of a cam 120 and a sucked ink is discharged into a porous material inside the waste ink storage part 36 for suction through a waste ink tube 176 and a discharge member 180. |
