The invention relates to a vending machine, especially a cigarette-vending machine, with an essentially vertical coin-collecting channel, into which engages at the lower end a blocking-lever tongue reaching under the inserted coins and mounted on a control rail which is moved away from the coin-collecting channel when the vending machine is actuated, the tongue being pulled out of the coin-collecting channel and the control rail being capable of passing a stop or being braked by the latter according to the tongue position caused by the inserted coins. Vending machines of this type are known in practice. They can be actuated when the weight of the inserted coins pivots the tongue of the blocking lever until the movement of the slide is no longer braked. Ingenious users of the vending machine have found that the vending machine can also be actuated with a smaller number of coins than prescribed, if the coins acquire a roughened surface, for example are powdered with an abrasive or the like. In that case, in particular, the respective coin lying on the tongue is pressed against the wall of the coin-collecting channel when the tongue is pulled out of the latter, and is retained there by frictional force, the tongue moving further downwards and the stop being released. To ensure that, when the vending machine is actuated, the coin supported on the tongue is held or is pushed back into the coin-collecting channel and ... Original abstract incomplete.
