The invention specifies a rule for optimising the dimensions of an armature (16) with respect to a pole plate (14) which is fitted on an iron core (12) of a hinged-armature system which is constructed with an L-shaped yoke. In this case, the pole surface is formed by a plate (14) which is mounted on the free end of the core (12), eccentrically with respect thereto, and the armature (16) is provided in the region of the plate (14) with an external contour which is dimensioned such that the field line (20), which emerges from the edge of the plate at the edge (21) which is remote with respect to the armature, just still enters into the armature surface facing the plate.
