PURPOSE:To supply an exhaust purifier with sufficient high temperature exhaust gas by disposing the exhaust purifier at the upstream side of the exhaust turbine of a supercharger in an exhaust passage. CONSTITUTION:Exhaust gas which is discharged from the exhaust port of an engine 1 into an exhaust passage 3 first flows into an exhaust purifier 5, wherein noxious gas components in exhaust gas is oxidized or reduce by the action of the three-way catalyst so that concentration of the noxious gas components is reduced. Since the exhaust purifier 5 is disposed at the upstream side of a supercharger 4, the exhaust gas remaining hot is sent to the purifier 5 before being reduced in temperature. Therefore, the temperature of the catalyst bed may be quickly increased at the starting time of an engine and so be at other running time of low power, on account of which the purifying performance of the exhaust purifier 5 is improved. |
