PURPOSE:To make it possible to simply decompose the nitrogen compound in water with good efficiency even if a suspended substance is contained in water and to reduce maintenance work, by decomposing the nitrogen compound to a nitrate ion by oxidation by bringing specimen water into contact with ozone under an alkaline condition. CONSTITUTION:An apparatus is constituted of a specimen water sampling part A, an alkali injection part B, a reaction part C and an ozone generation part D and a specimen water containing a nitrogen compound is collected in a reaction tank 4 through a sampling tube 1 while an aqueous alkali solution is added to the reaction tank 4 from an alkali tank 7. Subsequently, ozone is sent into the reaction tank 4 from an ozone generator 11 through a ball diffuser 6 and excessive ozone is discharged into the open air through a change-over switch 13 while decomposed to oxygen by an waste ozone decomposition device 15 and, after a difinite reaction time, ozone is guided to the decomposition device 15 by changing over a change-over cock 12 and decomposed therein. By this method, the nitrogen compound can be decomposed to a nitrate ion by oxidation. |
