A process for producing a ceramic-coated core support bracket of steel is described, wherein the steel blank is etched in an acid, in particular phosphoric acid, to produce pits in the range from 10 to 30 mu m and then coated with an aqueous wash generally containing aluminium silicate. To improve adhesion, a synthetic resin, in particular based on silicone resin, which is heat-stable up to at least 200 DEG C, can be added in quantities of 0.5 to 2% by weight to the wash.
