FLUOROETHOXY PYRIMIDINE AND TRIAZINES HERBICIDAL

Pyrimidine and triazine derivatives of the formula: wherein R is H or CH3; X is CH3 or OCH3; Y is OCH2CH2F, OCH2CHF2 or OCH2CF3; Z is CH or N; L is selected from a variety of aromatic groups; and their agriculturally suitable salts; exhibit herbicidal activity. For example, some of these compounds may be used for selective preemergent or postemergent control of undesirable vegetation in corn (maize). The novel compounds may be formulated for use in conventional manner. They may be made by various synthetic routes, e.g. by reacting a suitable aromatic sulfonyl isocyante LSO2NCO with an appropriately substituted 2-aminopyrimidine or 2-amino-1,3,5-triazine.
