PURPOSE:To obtain easily the titled compound, by reacting allyl alcohol with a peroxide in the presence of a specific catalyst to oxidize olefinic group in the above-mentioned alcohol. CONSTITUTION:An unsaturated alcohol having at least one olefinic bond at the beta,gamma-positions and another position is reacted with a peroxide, e.g. tert-butyl hydroperoxide, in the presence of a metal complex catalyst supported on a high polymer, e.g. a complex obtained from macroporous polystyrene beads crosslinked with divinylbenzene having multidentate ligands of formula I , II or IIIand oxomolybdenum ions, etc. to oxidize selectively the position of the olefinic bond in the above-mentioned unsaturated alcohol and give the aimed beta,gamma-epoxy unsaturated alcohol. EFFECT:The above-mentioned catalyst permits the reuse thereof without causing corrosion of apparatuses nor deactivation thereof with water, etc. |
