A round tent having a frame, exhibiting annular wall parts and a roof part adjoining the latter, for a roofing skin which slopes from the centre of the roof part to the wall parts and consists of a flexible fabric or similar material. Said round tent and an erecting process are intended to permit erection without a foundation or anchors, even where relatively large spans and an interior without a mast are concerned. For this purpose, use is made of a base frame comprising a plurality of radial profiles (14) directed towards the centre (Z) thereof, at least one ring of tie members connecting said profiles, and posts (21) which project up from the radial profiles (14) and are provided in each case with at least one coupling (41) for a counter element of a roof truss (46) or the like. Use is also made of a roof dome (51) which includes the radial, curved roof trusses (46) and has a central retaining member (50) for these roof trusses (46), which are detachably connected to the posts (21) and to the retaining member (50). The above-described base frame is erected without anchors on an erecting surface, after which multipart arcuate roof trusses (46) with opened hinge parts (47,48) are placed flatly and radially on top and connected to the central retaining member (50). The retaining member (50) and the arcuate roof trusses (46) are then raised by a central lifting member, using hauling ropes (71) at the hinge parts (47,48), until the arcuate roof trusses (46) form a dome.
