PURPOSE:To improve the use efficiency of a processor and to speed up processing by performing execution control over plural microprograms through hardware. CONSTITUTION:A microprogram is divided into execution units called a level (level 2 in figure) and hardware is assigned for every unit. Register groups 1 and 2 are switched by a gate 20. The processor 3 executes the microprogram stored in a control storage device 6. A control circuit 9 and a queue register 10 are provided in correspondence to registers 7 and 8, and the control circuit 9 monitors free states of the registers 7 and 8. When they are free, the processor 3 sends an access request to the register 7 to access an external storage device, and read data is set in the register 8. The access speed is slower than the execution speed of the processor 3, so switching to an executable program is performed in this wait time.
