In order, on the one hand, to increase traffic safety and, on the other hand, to reduce the times when motor vehicles are stationary in the region of road intersections and pedestrian crossings, an additional signalling device on motor vehicles is proposed. This signalling device consists of a signalling lamp 6 which lights up on the front of the motor vehicle in the direction of travel and lights up as soon as the brake pedal 5, or a different device which brings about the braking of the vehicle, is actuated. The signalling lamp 6 is expediently connected to the brake light in such a way that it lights up simultaneously with it. Advantageously, the signalling lamp 6 is arranged in the upper region of the windscreen, specifically in such a way that it is covered by the interior mirror for the field of vision of the driver. It has proven advantageous for the signalling lamp to emit green light (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
