PURPOSE:To improve a productivity by setting an angle of torsion of a spiral structure to a range of 160 deg. through 200 deg., providing a pair of polarizing substrates before and behind it, and providing an absorbing axis (or a polarizing axis) of the polarizing substrate by shifting it by a prescribed angle against an orienting direction of an adjacent liquid crystal molecule. CONSTITUTION:As for a torsional direction 15 and an angle of torsion alpha of a liquid crystal molecule 14, the maximum value is limited because a lighting state in the vicinity of a threshold becomes an orientation for scattering a light, 200 deg. is the upper limit, also the lower limit is limited by a contrast, and 160 deg. is a limit. As for an angle beta3 made by an absorbing axis of a polarizing substrate 10 of the upper side, or a polarizing axis 18 and an absorbing axis of a polarizing substrate 12 of the lower side, or a polarizing axis 19, a range of 0 deg. through 10 deg. is desirable by considering a contrast, a brightness, a color, etc. As for an angle beta1 made by the absorbing axis of the upper side polarizing substrate 10, or the polarizing axis 18 and a rubbing direction 16 of the upper side polarizing substrate 10, and an angle beta2 made by the absorbing axis of the lower side polarizing substrate 12, or the polarizing axis 19 and a rubbing direction 17 of the lower side polarizing substrate 12, it is desirable to set them to a range of 30 deg. through 60 deg., respectively, by considering a contrast, a brightness, a color, etc. |
