A probe for polarographic gas determination having a diffusion membrane above an electrolyte chamber is characterised in that the diffusion membrane is constructed to be thin in the measurement region above the cathode and thickened at the edges. This leads to high membrane stability in conjunction with a high rate of measurement. Such a membrane can advantageously be produced in the liquid state, rotating in the shape of a lens.
