An apparatus for illustrating the geometrical properties of a body 1 is to be of robust design and permit, in a simple manner, an impressive demonstration of surface networks and other characteristics. It is especially intended to be suitable for school use. To this end, the body 1 is equipped with at least one surface 2 consisting of a magnetisable material and provided with a matched plate 4 which is releasably attached. This plate 4 is designed as a permanent magnet, especially as a double-sided permanent magnet, in order to permit simultaneous adhesion to the surface 2 and to a demonstration board 5. <IMAGE>
