PURPOSE:The surface of a hydrophobic polymer membrane is made partially hydrophilic at intervals of a certain distance to avoid the waste use of immobilized protein whereby the economical efficiency is improved and the titled membrane giving uniform immobilization is obtained. CONSTITUTION:A hydrophobic polymer membrane such as a polypropylene membrane is subjected to surface-ashing treatment with low-temperature plasma of oxygen or oxygen-containing gas or steam, thus the surface is made hydrophilic partially at intervals of a certain distance to give the objective support. The hydrophobic polymer membrane is porous and the treatment is carried out by irradiating the polymer membrane on which a shield plate having through-openings of a certain shape at regular intervals with low-temperature plasma. The areas which are made hydrophilic are made circles of 0.5-15mm diameters.
