A spring contact pin for making contact with points on test items such as printed-circuit boards and the like, which points are located close to one another in at least one row. Said pin has a piston, which is guided in a sliding manner in an outer tube and is loaded by a spring, and in the case of which the cross-section of the outer tube and of the region of the piston guided in it are greater in one direction than in the direction which is perpendicular thereto.
