Two abutting, pitched roof surfaces form either an arris or a valley. The roof tiles forming the arris or the valley have to be cut obliquely corresponding to the resulting pitch line. In the case of the roofing according to the invention, oblique-cut sliding tiles produced at the factory are used for covering the arris and/or the valley. The tiles can be used for all conventional roof pitches, the spacing of the roof battens becoming greater, however, as the roof-pitch angle increases. The spacing of the roof batten is calculated from the ratio of the covering width of the roof tiles to the cosine function of the roof-pitch angle. The basic shape is the same for oblique-cut sliding tiles used for an arris or a valley. The mirror-inverted designs resulting when suspension studs and the cross-sectional shape of roof tiles and the interlocking joint are taken into account can be mass-produced. <IMAGE>
