A heating device for a passenger compartment consists of a main heater (5, 6, 7) which is usually connected to the heating medium circuit of a radiator (2). Preferably, in order to heat up the passenger compartment quickly after a cold start, a further heating circuit which is designed as an oil circuit (8) with an additional heat exchanger (10) is provided. This oil circuit (8) contains a stop valve (12) which is connected downstream of a pump (11) and converts pressure energy into heat. After flowing through the additional heat exchanger (10), the pressurised oil is available in a servo-steering system (14). During a steering operation, the pump (11) is loaded by the opening pressure at the stop valve (12) and the respective working pressure of the servo-steering system (14). The additional heat exchanger (10) can be switched off by a heating valve (15A) installed in a bypass line (15), via which line (15) a direct connection from the pump (11) to the servo-steering system (14) can be produced. <IMAGE>
