NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I [either one of R1 and R2 is (OH- acylated)glucuronato, (OH-acylated)gluconato, pyruvate or NO3, and the other is (OH-acylated)glucuronato, (OH-acylated)gluconato, pyruvate or halogen, or both together form formula II]. EXAMPLE:Monochloro( D-glucuronato )( trans-dl-2-aminomethylcyclohexylamine ) platinum. USE:An antitumor agent. PREPARATION:For example, a compound of the formula Pt(II)(NO3)2(amcha) (amcha is 2-aminomethylcyclohexylamine) is reacted with a carboxylic acid, e.g. glucuronic acid, in a molar amount of 1 or 2 times that of the compound of the formula at 0-40 deg.C for 10min-4 weeks to give the compound of formula I (R1 and R2 are not halogen), which is then reacted with an alkali halide to afford the compound of formula I (R1 and R2 are halogen).
