PURPOSE:To read surely a code without expending great care in handling a film cartridge by setting a brush with a contact cleaning agent, which wipes an information code surface, in a position easy to wipe or storing this brush in accordance with opening or closing of a rear cover. CONSTITUTION:When a rear cover 21 is opened, a flat spring 30, which is pressed by a projection 22 when the rear cover 21 is closed, is restored, and a brush 24 containing a contact cleaning agent it taken out from an aperture part 25 of a camera body in accordance with this restoration. Just before a film is put into a cartridge chamber, the information code surface provided in a film cartridge 13 is wiped by said brush 24 containing the contact cleaning agent to clean the information code surface, and thereafter, the film to inserted. When the rear cover 21 is closed, the projection 22 is inserted to a body-side corresponding hole 23 to press the flat spring 30, and the brush 24 is pulled into the body. Since the film is wiped by the brush containing the contact cleaning agent in this manner before the film is loaded to the camera, the information code is read accurately.
