Method for the starting of internal combustion engines by means of electric hand drill and two-part attachment (adapter). The combustion engines on private domestic tools, for example on lawnmowers, snow and lawn blowers, hedgecutters, chainsaws etc. largely have cable or kick start devices, probably for cost reasons. A certain degree of physical strength and nimbleness is therefore necessary for starting, especially when the starting process - as is usually the case - frequently has to be repeated. The invention seeks to make this easier in that the force needed is supplied by an electric hand drill and the function of an "electric starter" is achieved by means of a two-part "adapter". Embodiment: The existing "pinion" - correspondingly reduced/stepped up - is supplemented by an "engaging dog" (as formerly in cars for starting with a hand crank) in which a "counterpart" clamped in a hand drill engages. One variant might be to combine the usual cable/kick start device with an additional engaging dog of the abovementioned type so that manual or electric starting would be possible.
