PURPOSE:To enhance sensitivity and durability, and to improve resistances to heat, humidity, and light fading by incorporating a specified azo pigment in a photosensitive layer. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive layer contains an azo pigment having in the molecule an azo group combined with a coupler residue represented by the formula in which R1-R4 are each H, halogen, alkyl, aralkyl, amino, alkoxy, or acryl, and X is a residue coupling with a benzene ring to form an aromatic or hetero ring. The characteristics of such an azo pigment is effectively utilized by using it in the following various methods: I ) dispersing it into an insulating binder and forming it into a layer on a conductive substrate, II) adding it to a mixture of a charge transfer material and a binder, III) incorporating it in the charge transfer layer of a functionally separated type photosensitive body, IV) adding it to a charge transfer complex, etc. As a result, the obtained photosensitive body can be enhanced in sensitivity and durability, and further, in resistances to heat, humidity, and light fading. |
