PURPOSE:To restrict the generation of ridging by edging a steel slab containing >=specific wt% Si or Cr, in accordance with the conditions of a prescribed equation. CONSTITUTION:A draft (ri)% per one pass (expressed as each draft hereunder) and a total draft Rt% are controlled so as to satisfy the equation (1), in subjecting a steel containing >=1.5 Si or >=12% Cr to rolling reduction in its width direction. When each draft (ri) is small, a >=18% total draft Rt is required to regulate the height of ridge, for instance, to >=10mum. When each draft (ri) is large, the total draft is allowed to be >=10%. When the height of ridge is restricted to be >=7mum, the relation between the (ri) and the Rt is obtained as the equation (1). Accordingly, the generation of ridging is restricted by this edging method. |
