摘要

PURPOSE:Optical fibers, containing specific glass as the core part and glass consisting essentially of SiO2 as the clad part and having a low loss. CONSTITUTION:Optical fibers for optical transmission formed from TiO2-F- SiO2 based glass (prepared composition is 3-10wt% TiO2, 0.1-1wt% F and the remainder of SiO2) as the core part and glass consisting essentially of SiO2 as the clad part. The above-mentioned core glass has little light absorption and low transmission loss due to suppressed formation of Ti<3+> in the production process thereof.
