PURPOSE:To determine automatically the exposure meeting the size of an original picture film by detecting the light transmitted through or reflected from the original picture film with a two-dimensional image sensor, rearranging the image information for each of picture elements according to the area for determining the exposure and determining the exposure by the equation for determining the exposure. CONSTITUTION:The light transmitted through (or reflected from) an original picture film is driven by the signals 101S-103S of a driving circuit 20 and is detected by an image sensor 10 provided with an image pickup part 101, an accumulating part 102 and an output resistor part 103. The output thereof is emitted from a resister part 103 and is converted to a density signal DN via a sample holding circuit 21, an AD converter 22 and a logarithmic converting circuit 23. The signal is written into a memory 25 via a writing control circuit 24 and the density value for every picture element of a negative film is stored therein. The density of every picture element is rearranged according to the area for determining exposure and the exposure is determined by the equation for determining the exposure. The exposure meeting the size of the original picture film is thus automatically determined.
