PURPOSE:To obtain a unified image pickup and display device by providing a light emission device to the image pickup part and utlilizing an optical system of the image pickup part. CONSTITUTION:Motion of photographing an object 1 is photographed by a light path in the direction of the arrow 13 and recorded in a recording circuit 6. Display is made by adding a recorded video signal to a CRT controlling circuit 10, performing CRT driving signal processing, adding to CRT11 and making the CRT11 emit light. An image displayed on the CRT11 is led to the direction shown by the arrow 11 through a half mirror 12 passing through an optical system 2. Accordingly, the image of the CRT can be displayed by providing a screen (not shown in the figure) in the direction shown by the arrow 14. A charge transferring section of an image pickup element is made to multi-layer structure, and a light emitting element 18 is provided and used as a display device. At this time, a charge transferring element 16 so far transferred received charge of a light receiving section. However, charge is applied to the light emitting element 18 at the time of display. Thus, by providing a light emitting element in a part of image pickup element, the half mirror 12 becomes unnecessary and the efficiency of light emission can be heightened.
