PURPOSE:To keep a head in an extremely low error rate state even for a multi- channel head by bending outside the surface of a magnetic head having a contact with a magnetic tape with a radius of curvature secured along the tape width direction. CONSTITUTION:The surface 2 of a multi-channel magnetic head 1 which has a contact with a magnetic tape surface is bent outside with a radius R of curvature. The radius R is set at 10-2,000mm.. While a control plate 4 is provided to the side face of the head 1 to control the variance of a tape T toward its width direction. In such a constitution, a contact state is improved between the head 1 and the tape T. Then an error rate can be extremely reduced even with a multi-channel head of >=8 tracks as long as the radius R is set at 20-1,000mm.. |
