PURPOSE:To obtain a molding material wherein the impregnation of the resin is good and the resin is less forced out from the films, by placing layers of a resin compound and layers of cuts of glass roving in a groove of a lower film having a U-shaped cross section. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of layers of a resin compound 3 and a plurality of cuts off glass roving 4 are layered in a groove of a lower film 1 whose opposite sides are raised to have a U-shape in a cross section. Then after an upper film 5 is placed thereon, the cuts 4 are impregnated with the resin compound 3 using impregnation rolls 11 to form a sheet molding compound (hereinafter referred to as SMC) in the form of a sheet between the upper film and lower film thereby producing a molding material. EFFECT:The SMC is prevented from being forced out from the films, and a molding material that is easy to use can be obtained. |
