SHIFT LEVER DEVICE OF AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

PURPOSE:To obtain a shift lever device for an automatic transmission where it is projected less into a car, the caution plate is observed easily and proper operation is attained by using a gear for the expanding mechanism of the movement of the shift lever. CONSTITUTION:A lock pin 18 of a lock load 17 is released from a locking slot 20 of a bracket 3 provided erectly to an upper face of a retainer 1 by depressing a lock release button 22 provided to a knob 21 of the shift lever 4. In moving the shift lever 4 back and forth the car, a drive gear 7 fixed to a horizontal shaft 5 supporting the lower end of the shift lever 4 to the bracket 3 turns a follower gear 8 of a vertical shaft 9 provided perpendicularly onto the bracket 3 of the lower part. Thus, an outer lever 10 fixed to the vertical shaft 9 moves a wire cable 11 into the back and forth direction of the car and then the automatic transmission is operated.
