PURPOSE:To produce homogeneously mixed high-quality bread crumb, by rotating a pair of mutually intermeshed screws of a twin-screw extruder to the same directions, thereby performing the heat-generation, texturization and swelling of a bread crumb composition in a short time. CONSTITUTION:The objective apparatus for producing bread crumb from a material composed mainly of wheat flour, is furnished with a barrel 2 having a cavity with cocoon-shaped cross-section. The raw material feed port 6 is opened near one end of the barrel, and the dies 7, 7' to extrude the product are attached to the other end of the barrel. A pair of parallel rotary shafts 1, 1' having mutually intermeshed spiral surfaces 3, 3', 5, 5' are inserted into the cavity of the barrel. Each spiral screw has the pitch and shape varying along the length of the shaft. A jacket 9 for heating or cooling is attached to the outer circumference of the barrel 2. Since the heat-generation, texturization and swelling of the bread crumb composition can be carried out in a short time, high-quality bread crumb having stable quality can be produced. |
