PURPOSE:To enable a position selection at will for a telescope cylinder by installing a wire within the hollow rod of a telescope cylinder with the wire's one end connected to the tip of the rod and its other end to a reeling roll, to which a position detection device is connected. CONSTITUTION:A wire 10, with its one end fixed to the tip of a hollow rod 1 of a telescope cylinder and the other end to a reeling roll 11, is installed within the telescope cylinder while the reeling roll 11 is equipped with a brake motor 13, and a position detection device 17 consisting of a disk 14, a glower 15 and a light receiver 16. Accordingly, with the hollow rod 1 reaching a prescribed extension length, the brake motor 13 comes to a stop and the hollow rol 1 can be placed in its own position thus enabling a position selection at will for the hollow rod 1.
