PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of a connecting operation by attaching preliminarily a required number of iron wires having a required length to a ring screwed to a cover for protecting the cylinder part for connecting armored optical submarine cables and winding spirally the same on the armoring iron wires of the cable. CONSTITUTION:Cables A, B to be connected are connected by subjecting the ends of said cables to stepwise stripping and terminating treatment and passing the cores through the central holes of a pressure resistant cylinder and end face plates 2, 3. The plates 2, 3 are screwed to the cylinder 1 and the juncture is protected by an insulating cylinder 5 and a cover 6. A ring 8a is fixed to the cover 6 by means of a screw 7. Plural pieces of through-holes are provided peripherally to the ring 8a and iron wires 18a having a required length are passed therethrough and are caulked by a sleeve 20 via an insulator 19. The juncture is covered by a boot inserter 9 and boot 10 and the iron wires 18a are wound spirally on armoring iron wires 18 and are finished by binding wires. The connection to the non-armored part is thus made possible and the common use of the parts for connection with the non-armored cable is made possible. The operation in a repair and laying ship is made more efficient. |
