PURPOSE:To provide the titled remedy effective to the swelling, itchiness, ulcer, etc. caused by the sting of mosquito, and preservable for a long period, by leaching or decocting the leaf of arrowroot with water, and using the obtained extract as a component. CONSTITUTION:The leaves of arrowroot are collected together with the vine, and washed with water. The leaves are dried spontaneously or forcibly, and the vine is removed after drying. The dried arrowroot leaves are immersed and reconstituted in water or not water for 24hr with occasional agitation to effect the extraction of the active component. The obtained extract is used as the antipruritic for external use. Since the active drug component of arrowroot leaf is soluble extremely easily in water, it can be sufficiently extracted without squeezing or pressing. The obtained aqueous solution can be used asd it is as a liquid drug, however, when boiled, it is converted gradually to viscous ointment. The boiling is effective to sterilization and the increase in the concentration. The active component decomposes if the heating temperature is unnecessarily high. The agent is effective also to the itchiness caused by the contact allergy with cloth, yam allergy, etc.
