PURPOSE:To eliminate the unnatural sound elongation, etc. for the reproduced sound signal by changing both the tape running speed and the scan speed of a rotary head in proportion to each other and according to the contents of a variable speed command signal in comparison with the reference speed. CONSTITUTION:When a variable speed command signal PR is applied to a timing signal generating circuit 5, the phases of the reference phase signals S1 and S5 applied to a capstan servo circuit 6 and a scanner servo circuit 8 are controlled by the circuit 5. Thus the phases of both signals S1 and S5 are advanced or delayed compared with the phase corresponding to an external reference synchronizing signal SS by an amount equivalent to a variable speed indicated by the signal PR. Then the scanning speed of a rotary head of a scanner 4 and the revolving speed of a capstan 3 are changed with control in proportion to each other. Thus the running speed of a tape 1 is varied according to the contents of the signal PR, and the scanning speed of the rotary head of the scanner 4 is varied with control in response to the change of the running speed of the tape 1. |
