PURPOSE:To enable the measurement of strain in a steep strain gradient place or in a multi-shaft strain field under a high temp. condition of about 500 deg.C, by combining a strain/temp. sensitive element having high temp. resistance and required resistance temp. coefficient, and a temp. sensitive element. CONSTITUTION:As a strain/temp. sensitive element, a Pt-W plasma spray type strain gauge 2 withstanding a temp. of about 500 deg.C and having resistance temp. coefficient of about 250X10<-6>/ deg.C and a short gauge length is used. As a temp. sensitive element, because it is necessary to have resistance temp. coefficient ten several times that of the strain/temp. sensitive element, a Ni-Fe fine wire 3 having resistance temp. coefficient of about 4,500X10<-6>/ deg.C and high temp. resistance is used. The gauge 2 is connected between extending terminals 41, 42 provided to a base 1 and the fine wire 3 is connected between terminals 42, 43. Further, a bridge circuit having the strain gauge 2 between contacts a, b, an adjusting resistor 5 between contacts b, c and fixed resistors 6, 7 between c, d and d, a is constituted and temp. compensation is performed on the basis of the change in the resistance value of the adjusting resistor 5.
