PURPOSE:To recover 1,3-butadiene efficiently at a low temperature under a low pressure, by separating a fraction containing the above-mentioned compound as a side stream in separating the aimed compound from a rich solvent obtained by treating a mixed gas consisting essentially of the 1,3-butadiene with an absorbing solvent by distilation. CONSTITUTION:High-boiling substances and water-soluble components are removed from a reaction product gas obtained by catalytic oxidative dehydrogenation of n-butene in the vapor phase in the presence of a catalyst at a high temperature, and the resultant gas is absorbed with an absorbing solvent to give a rich solvent, consisting essentially of 1,3-butadiene, and containing a small amount of 5C hydrocarbons and/or furans. The above-mentioned rich solvent is fed from a conduit 11 to the top of a distillation column 12 to fow inorganic gases out of the top, and the absorbing solvent containing substantially no 4C hydrocarbon is recovered from the bottom of the column 12. The liquid in the column 12 is taken out of a conduit 15, and fed to a 4C recovery column 16 to recover 4C hydrocarbon gases from the top of the column 16, and the gas or liquid is partially taken out of a tray below the above-mentioned taking out tray for a side stream of the column 12 as the side stream and fed to a recovery column 22 to recover the 5C hudrocarbons and furans from the top thereof.
