SEALING TREATMENT OF SINTERED MEMBER

PURPOSE:To seal the holes on the surface of a sintered member and to enable formation of a uniform plating layer by impregnating a liquid mixture composed of Fe and Ni particles and acrylic resin liquid into the holes of the sintered member and exposing the metallic particles on the hardened surface. CONSTITUTION:A liquid mixture 5 formed by mixing metallic particles 6 of Fe and Ni with an acrylic resin is impregnated under vacuum into the holes 2 of a sintered member 1 consisting of a metallic material and after the excess liquid 5 is removed, a curing agent is coated on the surface and the member is heated to a suitable temp. to cure the curing agent thus packing and sealing the cured liquid mixture 5 into said holes 2. The surface is then subjected to a barrel or blast treatment to expose the metallic particles 6 on the surface 5A of the cured mixture 5. The sintered member 1 subjected to such sealing treatment permits formation of a uniform plating layer 4 when subjected to electroless plating.
