PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic toner suited to smooth supply of the toner because of superior fluidity and stability of the charge characteristic by providing a coated layer comprising a mixture of magnetic powder and microfine polymer particles on the surface of transparent and spehrical polymer nucleus particles. CONSTITUTION:Transparent spherical nucleus particles having uniform particle size are prepd. by the suspension homo- or copolymn. in an org. medium or by the seed emulsion homo- or copolymn. of styrenic monomer or/and acrylic ester monoter. On one hand, a stable aq. dispersion contg. no flocculation or coagulation of particles is obtd. by prepg. microfine polymer particles by the (co)polymn. of similar monomer(s) in the presence of a stabilizing dispersant. The above described slurry of the nucleus paticles is mixed with the aq. dispersion and is dispersed uniformly therein, then the dispersion is treated by spray drying at above the glass transition temp. of the microfine polymer. Thus, a toner comprising nucleus particles 1 coated with a coating layer 2 on the surface. By this method, a toner having superior fluidity and charge characteristics, etc. capable of providing distinct duplicated picture image is obtd. |
