PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic sensitive body having high heat resistance, light resistance, sensitivity, small residual voltage, and superior durability by incorporating a specified azo compd. in a photosensitive layer as a carrier generating substance. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive layer is formed on an electroconductive layer by incorporating a compd. expressed by the formula I [wherein n is 0 or 1; A is a group expressed by the formulas II, III, IV, or V; Z is an atomic group necessary for constituting a (substituted)arom. ring, or (substituted)arom.-heterocyclic ring; Q is a (substituted)carbamoyl or sulphamoyl; R1 is a (substituted)alkyl, carbamoyl, COOH or carboxylic ester, or CN; A' is a (substituted)aryl; R2 and R3 is a (substituted)alkyl, (substituted)aralkyl, or (substituted)allyl] in the photosensitive layer as a charge generating substance together with a charge transporting substance; or a photosensitive layer prepd. by building up a charge generating layer contg. said compd. on a charge transporting layer, is formed on an electroconductive substrate.
