PURPOSE:To perform rust inhibiting treatment generating no dripping and penetrated in a joint part, by coating a rust inhibitor having a specific composition in such a state that the liquid temp. of the rust inhibitor itself and the temp. of an object to be coated are controlled. CONSTITUTION:A rust inhibitor, prepared by adjusting the solid component of an eliphatic solvent containing a metal salt of lanolin fatty acid, wax, a metal salt of synthetic sulfonic acid and, if necessary, additives to 30-70% is applied to an object to be coated, preheated to 30-80 deg.C, at 30-80 deg.C. By this method, excellent rust inhibiting treatment, deeply penetrated into the joint part of steel plates and generating no dripping is performed.
