PURPOSE:To enable simple and rapid consturction of an artificial island, by a method wherein, after a floating body having a wall body positioned in a hanging-down manner is tagged to a reclaiming district and is sunk, a reclaiming material is charged in a district, intended to be reclaimed, partitioned with a wall body. CONSTITUTION:A floating body 8, having a wall body 9 located in a hanging- down manner, is tagged to a given district. Thereafter, ballast 13 is poured in ballast tanks 11, and the floating body 8 is sunk so that the wall body 9 is seated on the sea bottom 14 along a boundary between a reclaiming district and a district except said reclamining district. Thereafter, a reclaiming material 16, such as soil, is charged on a district, intended to be reclaimed, facing on the outer surface of the wall body 9 in a manner that the reclaiming material is piled up, emerging from a sea surface 15. Further, the floating body 8 is caused to float through drainage of the ballast 13 and is moved to a next district, and thereafter, reclamation is conducted ina similar manner described above. |
