PURPOSE:To form plating only on the part of the surface of a metallic member where a beam is irradiated with high current efficiency in the stage of using an auxiliary energy beam of a laser, etc. to form electroplating on said surface by making the output of the auxiliary energy beam impulsive and converting the plating current to positive and negative in synchronization therewith. CONSTITUTION:A metallic material 1 to be worked and an electrode 4 facing the same are disposed in a plating liquid 2 in an electrolytic cell 3 and are connected to a power source 5; at the same time an oscillator 6 of an impulsive laser beam 7 is connected to a power source 5 for plating by a timing controller 11. The beam 7 is focused by a focusing lens 9 and while the surface of a metallic material 1 to be worked is irradiated impulsively by said beam, electric current for plating is passed. The negative current is passed to the work 1 while the beam 7 is irradiated to the work 1 by the controller 11 and the positive current is possed thereto during the time when the laser beam oscillation is at a halt. The unnecessary plating layer formed in the part where the laser beam is not irradiated is etched away. The plating layer is thus formed only on the part where the laser beam is irradiated with high current efficiency. |
