PURPOSE:To avoid the hitch between a tape and an upper metal and a metallic housing respectively in a tape loading/unloading mode and to prevent a draw- in phenomenon and the damage of the tape, by always setting a tape guide member at a position closer to the tape than the metal housing under a loading/ unloading action of a tape cassette. CONSTITUTION:A tape guide member 19 always guides the movement of a tape while a tape cassette is loaded and unloaded. In other words, the external form positions 19a-19c and 19e of the member 19 are all set at the outside of the external form position of a metallic housing 18. Thus a tape 11 is set at its normal position. This recorder avoids the hitch between the tape and a metal and the housing 18 respectively. In addition, the member 19 is shunted by a projected part 21a of a pinch roller arm only when a pinch roller 20 is pressed to a capstan 16. Thus the member 19 has no contact with the roller 20. As a result, the member 19 can be lowered to a lever right above the normal loading position of the tape 11. This prevents a draw-in phenomenon and the damage of the tape 11.
