PURPOSE:To suppress vibration to be transmitted from the wheel side effectively by applying preload corresponding with the car speed onto the rack guide section only under neutral region of handle. CONSTITUTION:Under neutral region of handle, control current is applied from a control circuit 31 onto a solenoid 25 on the basis of a signal from steering angle sensor 30 to attract and displace a spool 26. Consequently, control cylinder 17 and control pump 23 are communicated to feed hydraulic pressure from the control pump 23 into the control cylinder 17 thus to press a rack guide 19 against the back of rack shaft 13. Since the hydraulic pressure is proportional to the car speed, the pressing force of rack guide 19 against the rack shaft 13 will increase as the car speed increases while under neutral region, their gearing force will increase as the car speed increases thus to increase the sliding frictional resistance of rack shaft 13 as the car speed increases. |
