PURPOSE:To generate regularly a crack after build-up welding, and to prevent peeling-off and wear of a build-up welding by forming plural grooves on the surface of a base metal, lapping a hardened build-up to a multilayer in the direction which crosses the direction of these grooves, and executing a welding. CONSTITUTION:A roll 11 having a lot of grooves 12 placed along the axial direction on the outside peripheral surface is cast. Subsequently, this roll 11 is rotated, a build-up welding is executed in the direction crossing the groove 12 by a submerged arc welding machine 16 and a bead 21 is formed, and a multilayer hardened build-up layer is formed. As for the bead 21 of the multilayer hardened build-up layer, its width becomes wide in the part crossing the groove 12 of the roll 11, and its width becomes narrow in the part crossing the projecting part between the grooves 12. In case that a crack is generated in this bead 21, it is generated preferentially in the part where the width of the bead is narrow, and since the crack is generated in the part of this projecting part, a strain of the inside of the bead 1 is released, and no crack is generated in other part. |
